Enota Resort and Campground, Blue Ridge Mountains, Georgia
|
| | Enota is more than a campground and mountain retreat - it is a vision for how we should honor the land and each other. My husband, definitely NOT the camper type, loves this place because of its natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere and the ever-present babbling brook(s) that borders most of the campsites. We have camped here in our camper van several times in the past 3 years and love to hike up to the AT and the waterfalls, or watch the kids fish for trout in the pond in front of the Lodge The land is pristine, laced with waterfalls and streams |

totally accessible to both RV camping (full hook-ups) or tent camping. The cabins are rustically charming and recently more modern motel-type rooms have been added within view of the waterfall. Some of the structures on this property are CCC-built and the staff also honors Enota's
| | Cherokee heritage as well, with a sweat lodge, sacred circle, drumming and the occasional Native American presenter, who happened to be leading the Sweat Lodge ceremonies when we were there this spring. We discovered that Enota is a non-profit ecological and teaching facility as well, and we campers and cabin folk mingle at the weekend breakfasts in the Lodge with the staff and the volunteers who help run the campgrounds, the gardens or the animal farm. This campground has newly remodeled restrooms and plentiful showers and also has trampolines for the | |

kids (and me!) We were there as a church retreat group was departing and they had a big group sing the evening before in the newly-enclosed pavilion. Occasionally, since I am a musician, I will even lead a sing-along around the campfire in front of the Lodge. Like I said, it's
a family place and even if you come alone, you can join the Enota family for the evening or longer! (Like the volunteers we met.) Says Deb G.
Unicoi State Park is a good location, and if you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on
Hiwassee River and High Shoals Creek. Enota Resort and Campground is a rather wet place commonly with a great deal of rain; March is the month that gets the most rain; October on the other hand is the driest. This campground is so brilliant. Near Enota Resort and Campground you
stumble on the Raven Cliff Falls Trail which is a splendid hiking trail; it's a nice idea to check out Dick Branch. A campground like this is too brilliant to miss. Going for a hike on the Whitly Gap Trail is always a good adventure, and a visit to Chattahoochee National Forest
invigorates the spirit. At Enota Resort and Campground through the summertime highs are in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's with temperatures at Enota Resort and Campground dipping down into the 20's
all through winter nights. Whitewater paddling is great on Chattahoochee River. Man, is there heaps of entertaining things to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. A nice place near Enota Resort and Campground is Grapevine Cove; Spaniard Mountain is scenic and can be seen from here.
You clearly have to fancy the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a fine hiking trail next to Enota Resort and Campground, and get wet paddling on Dodd Creek. If the weather is brilliant here at Enota Resort and Campground, you can go for a hike along
the Chattahoochee Trail; this is a popular place for folks from Hiawassee. You clearly have to adore Enota Resort and Campground. Sky Valley is a very popular ski area in close proximity, and going for a hike along the Arkaquah Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood.
