There is so much exciting stuff to do near Nelson's Family Campground; it is a pleasant escape from the routine. The slopes of Powder Ridge are so inviting nobody can resist, and you can run the rapids of Hammonasset River. Hurd State Park is a tremendous place to stop at, and swamps don’t sound that great but Webb Swamp close to Nelson's Family Campground is rather great. Not far from Nelson's Family Campground, you'll hit upon Pocotopaug Lake which is a lovely lake, and hiking along the Washington Trail is nice fun. This is such a magnificent campground. Quarry Ridge Golf Course is a great golf course nearby, and get your heart beating on the pleasant whitewater of Roaring Brook River. This campground is always a delight. This is such a picturesque campground. Arrow Point is not far from Nelson's Family Campground at all, and do take a hike on the Mattabesset Trail. The pleasant reception and all the amusing stuff to do are a magnificent draw for lots of people. So many local attractions and all the outdoors recreation are wonderful motives to come. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this place. Nelson's Family Campground is right by the Mattabesset Trail, and lots of people from East Hampton come here.
