When you're here at Highland Camp Ground it's always fun to stop at Mashamoquet Brook State Park; get your heart beating on the splendid whitewater of Natchaug River. The good people of Scotland like to hang out close by, and needless to say Clover Brook flows through this area. Lakes are delightful; Baltic Reservoir is a lake that's next to Highland Camp Ground, and if you have the time, Quinebaug & Shetucket Rivers Valley National Heritage Corridor is a national park worth taking a look at.

Camp Ground are hiking, fishing, swimming, and whitewater paddling, so getting bored is not something that is likely to happen. Famous Connecticut kindness and the exceptionally perfectly run facilities makes the spree here worthwhile.

Mansfield Hollow State Park is both tremendous and gorgeous, and it's in the vicinity of Highland Camp Ground; a nice location for whitewater paddling is Quinebaug River. Highland Camp Ground is a relatively wet place ordinarily with a lot of precipitation; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest of the months is February.
