If you come at the right time of year, Big Thompson River offers some delightful whitewater, and Cattail Creek Golf Course is a splendid golf course close by. Scores of people camp here when they come to check out Lory State Park.

Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the destinations close to Carter Valley Campgrounds that are fine to go to; let's not forget Buckhorn Creek which is a stream that you may stumble upon while here.
