Big Meadows - Rio Grande National Forest, Colorado

| | This campground has so much. A golf course near Big Meadows is Monte Vista Golf Club, and going for a hike on the North Fork Dry Creek Trail is always a good adventure. There are some splendid whitewater spots on Conejos River; there are good places to explore along the Alamosa River Trail.
The great folks who run this place and the capably managed operations attract people from far and wide.
The wonderful local attractions and the nearby outdoors recreation are nice causes to come. San Luis State Park is worth checking out if you're at Big Meadows, |
and you're sure to bump into some wonderful folks from Monte Vista here.
Around Big Meadows you don’t get a lot of rainfall; through the month of August you get the most rain around here, and January is the month with the least moisture. There's so much stuff to do in close
| proximity to Big Meadows; it is a very great campground. As if Big Meadows wasn't sufficient, you can also go whitewater paddling, playing golf, and hiking, so getting bored is not something that is likely to happen.
High temperatures at Big Meadows all through the summer months are in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 40's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 30's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Big Meadows temperatures dip to the-10's. Big Meadows is an old favorite with the people in Monte Vista.
