There's perfect hiking along the General Creek Trail; you'll probably meet some folks from Echo Lake here. During the summer at Tahoe Valley Campground temperatures are regularly in the 70's. Tahoe Valley Campground is a campground rather often visited by folks of Echo Lake. Head up to Heavenly and strap some skis to your feet, and Carson River - East Fork has a nice whitewater paddling spot nearby.
