Outdoors recreation is abundant, some of the enjoyable stuff you can do is whitewater paddling, fishing, swimming, and hiking, so you won’t get bored. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things near River Rest Resort. The Canyon Creek Trail is a glorious hiking trail right next door to River Rest Resort; there are some fine whitewater spots on Yuba River - South Fork. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. A splendid place to go to right next door   to River Rest Resort is Devils Canyon, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Yuba River - Middle Fork. This is really a nice campground. Take a hike on the Bayes Cabin Road, and Liberty Hill Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could take a look at. The Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful. We should all go camping from time to time, and River Rest Resort in California is a perfect spot to go. This campground is so beautiful. A trip to Malakoff Diggins State Park when you're here at River Rest Resort is a pleasant idea; Soda Springs is a very popular ski area close by. Washington Creek is a perfect local stream, and a spree to Empire Mine State Park when you're here is never a bad idea. Lots of precipitation falls at River Rest Resort; January is the wettest month with most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. The warmest time of the year at River Rest Resort arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. Highs through the winter are typically in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for River Rest Resort. While you're here at River Rest Resort you can take a hike along the Lafayette Ridge Trail, and there's whitewater on Yuba River - North Fork for all you thrill seekers.
