Pipi Campground - Eldorado National Forest, Northern Sierra Nevada, California Custom Search   I work at this campground which is located on Hwy 88 between the town of Pioneer and the Kirkwood Ski Resort. It is a beautiful campground with 48 sites located on the Middle Fork of the Consumnes River. It is popular with families for relaxing, water play in the river, and fishing for native brookies. There is no boat ramp and the river is too shallow to even do successful kayaking. There are no showers; toilets are vault toilets. There are no hiking trails       in the area as it is in the heart of OHV trail riding (OHVs must be trailered in and out of the campground). There are, though, handicap accessible campsites and a lovely handicap accessible walking trail. Many families have camped   here for 40 plus years and it has become a favorite for family reunions. All campsites accommodate tents; about 25 sites also accommodate trailers & RVs. The ads for Placerville facilities are poorly placed as Placerville is more than an hour away; local facilities have Pioneer or Pine Grove addresses. The nearest ranger station is Amador Ranger Station on Silver Dr. in Pioneer. Please come to PiPi; it is quiet and relaxing, but leave your boat at home and       go grocery shopping before you arrive! While visiting this area   in California it's a wonderful idea to go for a camping trip too. The good choice of local attractions, and such a good variety of outdoors recreation are sure to keep you coming back many times. Pipi Campground - Eldorado National Forest is frequently visited by the residents of Placerville.
