    should go for a camping trip every now and then, and Onterra Monterey Bay in California is exactly what you need. On a great day it's a nice idea to spend the day at Macabee Beach, and whitewater paddling is pleasant on Little Sur River.
You assume that's sufficient? Just getting
warmed up. Going to Zmudowski State Beach close to Onterra Monterey Bay is a magnificent thing to do; paddling on San Lorenzo River is so much fun. Carmel River has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby, and you can go for a hike on the Soberanes Canyon Trail. A perfect site like Marina State Beach near Onterra Monterey Bay is too pleasant to leave out, and don't leave Onterra Monterey Bay without first going for a hike along the San Clemente Trail.
Lakes? Sure, Laguna Del Rey is close at hand, and if you want to hit the beach, Del Monte Beach is in
 
the neighborhood.
So many local attractions and so much to do will certainly have you coming back repeatedly. High temperatures at Onterra Monterey Bay all through the warm months are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 60's; overnight lows at Onterra Monterey Bay during the winter regularly dip into the 30's. As if Onterra Monterey Bay wasn't enough, you can also go fishing, swimming, whitewater paddling, and hiking, so it's impossible to get bored.
