You could also check out Lake Cleone if you're here at Manchester State Park; it's close by, and there are some delightful whitewater spots on Rancheria Creek.
This campground is so glorious. Big River is a great local stream, and Mendocino Headlands State Park is a tremendous spot to stretch your legs a bit.
