Loon Lake - Eldorado National Forest, Northern Sierra Nevada, California   We all need to go camping for a couple of days every so often, and Loon Lake is a good local campground if you happen to be in California. All the perfect local attractions in the vicinity and the nearby outdoors recreation are pleasant reasons to come. The pleasant staff and a lot of fun things to do have folks coming from far and near. Indian Grinding Rock State Park is a brilliant place to stretch your legs a bit; do take a hike on the Bake Oven Trail. Yeah, come up here to the Northern Sierra Nevada for a great time. A nice site like Coon Hollow     here at Loon Lake is too magnificent to miss, and lots of people from Placerville come here. The surroundings of this campground have so much stuff to offer. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Nevada Point Trail, and hiking along the Pigeon Roost Trail is nice fun. Several folks stay at Loon Lake for the purpose of being near Marshall Gold Discovery State Park. Be careful coming to the Northern Sierra Nevada, you might not ever want to return back home again. A good spot for whitewater paddling near Loon Lake is American River - South Fork, and since you're here you can play some golf at Camino Heights Golf Course. The yearly precipitation here at Loon Lake is about average; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain; July is when it's the driest. This is in fact a brilliant campground. Don't forget to take   a good little visit to Ringgold Creek; get your pulse rate up on the fine whitewater of Cosumnes River - Middle Fork. With such a great deal of things to do in California you'll never get bored. This is no site for people who don’t like to have fun. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend American River - South Fork, and a magnificent sight of striking Sacramento Hill is available. Loon Lake is esteemed by folks of Placerville. Some activities here at Loon Lake are hiking, whitewater paddling, and playing golf, so running out of exciting things to do won’t happen. So many exciting things close to Loon Lake, and a lot of folks love to come here to get away. When you're here at Loon Lake it's always fun to visit Marshall Gold Discovery State Park, and Cedar Ravine is a good site to explore. High temperatures at Loon Lake during the long summer days are in the 90's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are mostly in the 50's, and overnight lows at Loon Lake during the wintertime generally descend into the 30's.
