Leavis Flat - Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park, Southern Sierra Nevada, California
|
| | Leavis Flat- I loved it! Small campground, right next to Deer Creek, only 9 sites. You can buy ice and extra necessities just up the road at the California Hot Springs (resort?) No cell phone service, ranger comes by once a day, it's very mellow. You are roughing it unless you bring an RV. No showers or flush toilets. So beautiful. We were there for Memorial Wknd. Some locals said it's usually pretty empty but the campground was full for our trip. I've heard they might shut it down. Maybe it's not bringing in enough cash for the upkeep. I bathed in the |

creek. My boyfriend wasn't so brave, too cold for him. If you're planning on doing the sights at the Sequoia National Park, it's a two hour drive to Morro Rock to give you an idea. The creek is so pretty and the water is drinkable, not deep enough to swim but perfect to cool off.
| The mosquitoes weren't too bad and with the right company, it's the perfect setting to get totally away! My boyfriend has all the pics on his phone, but I'll come back and post them. Says jennychaos
