The lake is managed and maintained by Casitas Municipal Water District, with lake operations under the name Lake Casitas Recreation Area. The lake is technically government land, managed by the Casitas Municipal Water District, which operates as an independent company. We're not a state or national park.

close to Lake Casitas Recreation Area is a pleasant location to stop by, and there's great hiking along the Ocean View Trail. The yearly rain here at Lake Casitas Recreation Area is about average; February is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year
is July. All the outdoors fun stuff in the Sierra Madre will keep you coming back over and over. If you haven’t been to Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, you have to schedule some time for it if you're here, and the Cozy Dell Trail offers hiking at its best.
