Indian Oaks Trailer Ranch, Santa Rosa Mountains, California
|
| | We visited Indian Oaks Trailer Park in July of 06. I don't think we expected it to be as hot and humid as it was. We had some mixed emotions about Indian Oaks Trailer Ranch. On one hand it deviates significantly from the traditional rv park, which was a big plus. The park is very rustic, a cross between camping and having the more structured accommodations of a full-on rv park with bathrooms, showers and laundry mat available. This park would have been great for families with kids. A playset and an oversized pond provides some fishing and swimming |

opportunities. I know they call it a lake, but it's a little bit of a stretch in my mind. Very creative photography is a bit deceiving. Not a lot of maintenance goes into the overall appearance of the lake. Anyone sitting near the shoreline might have been a little apprehensive
| about relaxing too much with their feet on the ground. There were lots of fire ants. The shoreline consisted primarily of small patches of grass against the predominant dirt embankment. A fair amount of weeds were evident around the grassy areas of the lake and unfortunately, animal waste was very prevalent. I wasn't sure if that was from locals with dogs or just lazy visitors who didn't clean up after their pets.
Staff hospitality was A++. The office shares the backside of the local pub and outdoor cafe next to the lake. Very quaint, unfortunately | |

it was about 113 degrees with a fair amount of humidity and we didn't feel very motivated to enjoy the outdoor seating, which was your only option.
The park itself is aging and the wiring is there to prove it. No apparent upgrades were evident. We experienced outages
daily and had to rely on our generator, which added about an additional 65 dollars in gas to stay at what was supposed to be a full hookup facility. California gas prices were at $3.59 a gallon. Ouch. While the manager tried to explain there were surges throughout the town,
some of the local year-round residents who were hard wired, reported no problems. We had a family staying next to us in an Allegro Bus who really struggled with the electrical issues. Their breaker simply couldn't handle the load. Every time he flipped the breaker back on it
interupted our electricity. Several visitors left early because of the heat and unreliability of electrical services throughout the day.
The sites sizes aren't terribly generous. If the family next to us hadn't reserved two spaces, we would have definately felt cramped.
I guess it all depends on your comfort level, but having the picnic table in front of our main entrance nearly back up into your neighbor's sewage hose was a little disturbing to me. Probably not the best planning for packing in units as closely as they do. Overall, I'd give
the park a C- rating. Although the staff was very friendly and the park has a lot of potential, it's probably not one we'll be visiting again anytime soon. I'd really like to see the owners invest in upgrades and overall maintenance. Says Sylvie
