Through the winter highs are regularly in the 40's, and nighttime lows at Giant Gap during the winter generally drop into the 20's. If you come at the right time of year, Yuba River - South Fork offers some delightful     whitewater, and Selby Flat is a glorious site to stretch your legs a bit. All the water falling down from the sky makes Giant Gap a wet location; the wettest month of the year is frequently January, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is July. Lake Vera is a nearby lake that you could check out; do take a hike on the Lafayette Ridge Trail. If you adore the outdoors, you won’t be let down; there's hiking, swimming, playing golf, fishing, and whitewater paddling, so probably you want to stay a bit. Giant Gap is an old favorite with the residents of Nevada City. That right there is heaps of exciting stuff already but it goes on, the Northern Sierra Nevada has it all. Eagle Ravine is a great spot to visit next to Giant Gap, and you'll perhaps meet some people from Nevada City here. A lot of fun is   at this campground. Empire Mine State Park is a splendid spot to stretch your legs a bit, and why not take a little spree to Gold Run since you're here. This place is peerless, just explore all the exciting stuff to do in the vicinity of Giant Gap. Giant Gap is right by the Humbug Trail. This campground is a good place to have a look at. The South Yuba Trail offers hiking at its best, and Malakoff Diggins State Park is a striking place any time of year. California has such an incredible array of things to offer nature lovers. Be careful coming to the Northern Sierra Nevada, you might not ever want to return home again. There are some perfect whitewater spots on Yuba River - Middle Fork, and one of the dominant features of the surroundings of Giant Gap is Sugarloaf Mountain. So much entertaining stuff to do at Giant Gap, so little time. If you're here at Giant Gap and you like golf, you can take a look at Nevada County Country Club; hiking along the Halls Ranch Trail is splendid fun.
