and why not visit nearby Oak Creek if you're here at Fort Independence Campground. Good hiking is available along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 11; if you're a golfer then a perfect nearby course is MT Whitney Golf Course. This is truly a good campground. Don't leave Fort Independence Campground without first going for a hike along the Pat Keyes Trail.
