Finnon Lake, Northern Sierra Nevada, California   Finnon Lake is open year round.? Reservations are not required but there are a limited number of weekends that the campground is reserved by large groups, usually several months in advance.? Contact is through the Mosquito Volnteer Fire Association 530-622-6832(leave a clear message) and we can tell you if the weekend is reserved. We can reserve a spot for you if you wish. If you are fortunte to be ther in the mid winter months you may see a bald eagle or osprey, not to mention all the other wildlife the rest of the year. Says Leslie Baumgartner A visit to Marshall Gold Discovery State Park when you're here at Finnon Lake is a delightful idea, and the fine folks of Placerville like to hang out nearby. This campground is always a bliss. The Bake Oven Trail is a perfect hiking trail close to Finnon Lake, and a spree to Indian Grinding Rock State Park when you're here is never a bad idea. This is such a gorgeous campground. On a pleasant day at Finnon Lake you can take a hike along the Nevada Point Trail, and if you come at the right time of year, American River - Middle Fork offers some glorious whitewater. Finnon Lake is a pretty wet place usually with much precipitation; January is the month that gets the most rain, and July is when it's the driest. All the outdoors fun stuff in the Northern Sierra Nevada will keep   you coming back persistently. Long Gulch is a tremendous place to go to in the vicinity of Finnon Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Cosumnes River - Middle Fork. Going for a hike on the Grizzly Canyon Trail is always a nice adventure, and float down the rapids of American River - South Fork in a kayak. All the outdoors exciting things near Finnon Lake will keep you coming back repeatedly. This is a magnificent neighborhood for folks who like lakes. Finnon Reservoir is a lake around here, and while you're here and you like golf, you can stop by Camino Heights Golf Course. Yeah, come up here to the Northern Sierra Nevada for a brilliant time. Go for a hike on the Belix Trail, and don't forget to take a wonderful little visit to Mosquito Creek. There is a perfect hiking trail near Finnon Lake called the Pigeon Roost Trail. For the period of the summer highs here at Finnon Lake get into the 90's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 50's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Finnon Lake.
