East Meadows Campground - Tahoe National Forest, Northern Sierra Nevada, California
|
| | East Meadows has been a favorite since my first trip. The area is full of natural attractions. A favorite is to go sit in the small waterfalls just a short hike from the campsite. Beaware that because of the elevation, the campground does not open Memorial Day like most (although they will let you make reservations during that weekend), it's usually still covered in snow until the middle of June. However, once you get there you will see what a couple extra weeks of snow will bring in beauty to the surroundings. Says Andee
Here at East Meadows Campground |
|
there are plenty of folks from Nevada City, and Malakoff Diggins State Park is a fine place to stretch your legs a bit. East Meadows Campground is a rather wet place mostly with a good deal of rain; January is the month that gets the most rain while July is usually the driest month.
| Be careful coming to the Northern Sierra Nevada, you might not ever want to return back home again. Get covered with water paddling on Yuba River - Middle Fork, as expected you could also take a look at Lake Vera if you're here; it's not far at all. This campground is a wonderful spot to stop by. While you're here at East Meadows Campground it's a great idea to go to Selby Flat, and enjoy a round of golf at Nevada County Country Club. Man, is there plenty of cool things to do near East Meadows Campground. On a good day at East Meadows Campground you | |
|
can take a hike along the Humbug Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. It's a perfect idea to stop at Gold Run, it's close to East Meadows Campground, and if the weather is perfect, you can go for a hike along the South Yuba Trail. The Lafayette Ridge Trail is
a fine hiking trail in the neighborhood of East Meadows Campground, and paddling on Yuba River - South Fork is so much fun. That right there is plenty of exciting things already but it goes on, the Northern Sierra Nevada has it all. A journey to Eagle Ravine is always fun,
and nearby you discover the Halls Ranch Trail which is a great hiking trail. This is such a fun spot for a campground. Quail Valley Golf Course is a perfect golf course nearby, and going for a hike on the Green Valley Trail is always a good adventure. When you're here at East Meadows
Campground it's always fun to pop by Empire Mine State Park, and the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain can be seen from East Meadows Campground. Summertime highs at East Meadows Campground usually tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. During the winter highs are usually in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at East Meadows Campground.
