East Meadows Campground - Tahoe National Forest, Northern Sierra Nevada, California
|
| | East Meadows has been a favorite since my first trip. The area is full of natural attractions. A favorite is to go sit in the small waterfalls just a short hike from the campsite. Beaware that because of the elevation, the campground does not open Memorial Day like most (although they will let you make reservations during that weekend), it's usually still covered in snow until the middle of June. However, once you get there you will see what a couple extra weeks of snow will bring in beauty to the surroundings. Says Andee

is no location for people who don’t like to have fun. Going for a hike on the Lafayette Ridge Trail is always a perfect adventure, and if you're a golfer then a magnificent nearby course is Nevada County Country Club. This is such a fun site for a campground. If you don't mind
getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Yuba River - South Fork, and you absolutely should have a look at Malakoff Diggins State Park if you're here. Man, is there plenty of amusing stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Sugarloaf Mountain is trouble-free to spot
from East Meadows Campground, and you can go for a hike on the Halls Ranch Trail. This campground is always a pleasure. Gold Run is a nice site to visit, and Selby Flat is right here at East Meadows Campground. A good deal of precipitation falls at East Meadows Campground;
January is the wettest month with most rain; July is the month with the least moisture. East Meadows Campground is a location with many visitors from Nevada City, and Empire Mine State Park is a good location to visit on a beautiful day. If you have a thing about the outdoors,
you'll have a thing about East Meadows Campground. Don't leave East Meadows Campground without first going for a hike along the Green Valley Trail.
