Dixon Lake, Santa Rosa Mountains, California   If you love the outdoors, you won’t be let down; there's whitewater paddling, hiking, fishing, playing golf, and swimming, so probably you want to stay for a while. This campground is always a diversion. Going for a hike along the Aguanga Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area; since you're here you can play some golf at Eagle Crest Golf Club. Summertime highs at Dixon Lake ordinarily tend to be in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 60's; all through     the dark hours in the wintertime at Dixon Lake temperatures descend to the 40's. If you are in California during camping season, you have to go camping. Visiting Cabrillo National Monument is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. Dixon Lake gets very little precipitation; the wettest month of the year is commonly January, that's the one that rains the most, and July is when it's the driest. There are some splendid whitewater spots on Santa Margarita River, and Dixon Lake is in close proximity to San Pasqual Battlefield State Park which is a gorgeous place. Dixon Lake is often visited by the people in Escondido. All the outdoors enjoyable things in the neighborhood of Dixon Lake will keep you coming back many times. Soar down the rapids of Escondido Creek in a kayak, and if you're visiting from Escondido, you won't be the only one. The Santa Rosa Mountains scenery is always striking.
