We spent the night here around Easter.  It was not a ultra fancy resort hotel, but it was clean and well kept.  A decent place to stay.  Not only that, but when we were there, it was the cheapest place in the vicinity. Says Deb

We stayed at Desert Ironwood Motel last weekend and was pleantly surprised. The rooms were clean and the desert riding is awesome! Says Lori

We had a really bad experience at the Desert Ironwoods Motel over Thanksgiving weekend, 2009. All the rooms were booked & the only thing left was a 24ft Mallard travel trailer they have onsite which we rented. The last night there (Saturday night) I decided to camp with my brothers & leave the beds in the trailer
for my wife & her girl friend. At about midnight there was very loud music, drinking & noise coming from the trailer behind them, which as we found out is the trailer the motel owner’s daughter lives in. My wife walked over & asked
them politely if they could turn the music down; which they did. At about 1:00am the music once again got very loud, waking my wife up. My wife again walked over and spoke with the owner’s daughter, who by this time was very intoxicated as was her guests and requested that they turn the music down. The woman refused stating that it was Thanksgiving weekend & they could play their music as loud as they like & if my wife did not like it she should leave. My wife explained that the motel has a 10:00pm curfew and all loud music must be turned off & campfires extinguished. At this point the woman’s boy friend became very confrontational, got in my wife’s face & poked his finger in her chest ranting ''who
do you think you are''. My wife returned to the trailer for the remainder of the evening very shaken & frightened.

The next morning I spoke with the owner Bob & his wife about the incident, explaining how my wife was assaulted by their future son-in-law. Bob & his wife claimed that my wife was lying about being poked in the chest because, as he claimed none of their daughter’s friends or their daughter had seen it happen. The only thing the owner’s were willing to was to remove that one night from my bill. I also mentioned that when I originally called to make the reservation I asked if the air conditioning & refrigerator are in good working order; I was assured they were. They never did get the A/C or the refrigerator to work even after sending their maintenance person over twice. After spending one night in the trailer I noticed small bit makes on my legs, bed bugs and the toilet seat literally fell off and onto the floor the first time I tried to use the bathroom.

My advice for anyone considering staying at the Desert Ironwoods Motel is ''DON’T''. There are better motels in Borrego Springs that treat their clients with respect. Says M. M. (Sun, 29 Nov 2009)
