Love this park. It's a gem in Gilroy. Love the rangers too; they keep the rift raft out. If you want hiking or wildlife, this is the park. Great trails to hike or bike, and the wildlife is like none I have seen before: wild turkeys, deer, boars, coons, owls, hawks. We have even seen a bald eagle on a branch over the shore. This is truly the best park around. Says Squirrel
I had a lot of good times camping here. Had also some disappointments with the rangers. In some occasions, they got really mean without good reason. But I've got to say, Coyote Lake is where I've seen the most wild life out | |
of all the places I've been camping (not counting the cows). Says William Poulin
Too many rangers! The current system for reservations and first come basis has a lot to be desired as it appears that it lacks the required
| | coordination. We were directed to a site by a ranger for a 3 night stay when another ranger on our last night told us that we would have to move due to the fact that someone else had reserved our site. Two rangers per vehicle and two or three trucks patrolling is way over kill. One or two rangers would be sufficent to keep campers in line. Our state could certainly utilize the excess personnel to help keep some of our other camps open. Dogs are NOT allowed to swim in the lake without a leash. Also, swimming not allowed.. but water sports are? So, if you're water skiing and you fall can you swim? No, I guess you drown. I would not recommend this campground! Says Duane B

can catch some big bass and trout here! Says Mimi
Took my family camping and saw nothing but rangers arguing with other campers or giving tickets. Actually had a ranger come into our campfire at night and tell my kids to be careful with sticks they were playing with.
My kids are now scared of rangers. Too bad it could be a good place for family camping. Says David W. (Thu, 14 Jul 2011)
