Collins Lake Recreation Area, Northern Sierra Nevada, California   Collins Lake is a 1600 acre lake and recreation area with 12 1/2 mile of shoreline in the beautiful California gold country foothills. We are located about 1 1/4 hours North East of Sacramento between Marysville and Grass Valley. We are open year round. We have include lakeshore camping with RV sites tent sites group camps boat launch marina and boat rentals a big sand swimming beach children's playground beach volleyball picnic area general store laundry hot showers and new cabins. Bass crappie bluegill and catfish are plentiful and intensive habitat areas for them have been built to keep Collins Lake one of the best fishing lakes in Northern California. Collins Lake Recreation Area gets a normal amount of yearly rain; the month with most of the rain is January; July is when it's the driest. The surroundings of this campground have such an incredible array of things to offer. Big Valley Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth   checking out; hiking is a popular thing to do around Collins Lake Recreation Area; South Yuba Trail is a perfect local trail. This is a popular place for folks from Oregon House, and a visit to Lake Oroville State Park when you're here is never a bad idea. At Collins Lake Recreation Area through the summertime highs are in the 90's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Collins Lake Recreation Area plunge into the 30's. If you want a good time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Northern Sierra Nevada. What a site this is for outdoors folks. Los Verjeles Dam is worth checking out while you're here; stopping by Empire Mine State Park is a good thing to do. Yep, outdoors fun stuff truly is bountiful here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Soar down the rapids of Yuba River in a kayak, and Smoky Ravine is another wonderful place to have a look at close by.
