Collins Lake Recreation Area, Northern Sierra Nevada, California Custom Search   Collins Lake is a 1600 acre lake and recreation area with 12 1/2 mile of shoreline in the beautiful California gold country foothills. We are located about 1 1/4 hours North East of Sacramento between Marysville and Grass Valley. We are open year round. That right there is a lot already, but it continues; Collins Lake Recreation Area has it all. A good place like Empire Mine State Park in close proximity to Collins Lake Recreation Area is too wonderful to leave out; Texas Hill is simple   to spot from Collins Lake Recreation Area. A trip to Lake Oroville State Park when you're here at Collins Lake Recreation Area is a good idea, and some nearby water includes Big Valley Creek. This campground is a magnificent spot to explore. If you're here, you might as well go to Smoky Ravine, and if you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Yuba River.
