Whitewater paddling is glorious on American River - Middle Fork, and you can see Murphy Mountain from American River Resort-coloma. This is such a splendid campground. In case you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on American River - South Fork, and Auburn State Park is a great place to go. Throughout the warm months at American River Resort-coloma highs are typically in the 90's, and the night is rather chillier of course, generally in the 60's.
