dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Verde River, and there is a tremendous hiking trail nearby called the North Peak Trail. Tonto Creek is a splendid whitewater spot close to Payson Campground, and going for a hike on the Hells Gate Trail is always a nice adventure.
But wait, there's more exciting stuff to do in the Mogollon Rim Mountains. Near Payson Campground you stumble on the Shake Tree Trail which is a great hiking trail; next to Payson Campground you stumble on a golf course called Payson Golf Course. You've got to get out of the house,
and Payson Campground in Arizona is just the location.
Not much rain falls here at Payson Campground; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and June is when it's the driest.
