Koknuk - Tongass National Forest, Alaska   Koknuk is a popular spot with the residents of Ketchikan. Black Sand Beach is in the neighborhood of Koknuk if you're in a beach type of mood. Though there's not a whole lot to do next to Koknuk it is a very nice campground. At Koknuk you can see Ward Mountain, and a tour to Charcoal Point is always a good idea. You need to get out, and Koknuk in Alaska is such a nice place. At Koknuk through the summer highs are in the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Highs during the winter are typically in the 30's; night     lows during the wintertime for Koknuk tend to be in the 20's. All the happy folks and the well taken care of facilities beat anything. Scores of people stay at Koknuk so they can go to Black Sand Beach. You'll meet a lot of people from Ketchikan here, and there's some interesting stuff to spot at Carlanna Lake Dam next to Koknuk. This campground is a lovely site to pop by. Carlanna Lake is a magnificent lake next to Koknuk, and there's some flowing water close by, Carlanna Creek is a stream you can explore while you're here.
