Alsek River - Tongass National Forest, Alaska   A lot of folks stay at this campground for the purpose of being next to Black Sand Beach. Finally, the time is right for camping again, and Alsek River in Alaska is precisely what you need. If you come to this campground, you will have a nice time for sure. Carlanna Creek is close to Alsek River and is always a diversion to stop at, and a day at beautiful Black Sand Beach next to Alsek River is a tremendous thing to do. This is a good neighborhood for folks who like lakes. Carlanna Lake is a lake close at hand. The caring personnel and the nicely     controlled operations have scores of folks coming here. For the period of the days of summer at Alsek River highs are typically in the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's while Alsek River overnight low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the 20's. Alsek River sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the month of October is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is July. At Alsek River you can make out Ward Mountain; do stop by Carlanna Lake Dam while you're here. This is a popular site for folks from Ketchikan, and you must visit Charcoal Point when you're here. Alsek River is a campground that is fantastically liked by the folks in Ketchikan. A visit to Alaska is not complete without some camping.
