Peshtigo River
 | 23 miles away ... had made reservations in advance with Kathy the owner and manager of the resort. She directed us to a beautiful campsite tucked in amongst the hardwoods. We asked in advance about having a campfire during our stay. She mentioned that each site had a large firepit and that firewood was available to purchase upon request. When we arrived early Friday afternoon we were plesantly surprised to find our own personal supply of firewood already delivered to our site. All we needed was to find the matches and the children were busy readying a fire for brats and smores. While the kids prepared the meal the wife and I washed away the miles and stress of the city left behind by enjoying a soaking hot shower in the resorts large shower facility.
The next morning we all enjoyed a stroll around the campgrounds before heading up to the Rafting Facility for our scheduled noon departure for the Peshtigo River. I had rafted before, the wife and children aged 14 and 16 had not. I had experienced a trip previously in a guided 8 person raft in the Smokey Mountain area of Tennessee so I didn't expe... |

Nordic Mountain
 | 97 miles away 9 PHOTOS ...warmer temperatures. In the past few years Nordic Mountain has more than doubled its snowmaking capacity. The goal is to open earlier, close later, and remain open on marginal winter days. One of the biggest projects to improve snowmaking at Nordic Mountain will serve a dual purpose. The addition of a 10 million gallon snowmaking pond will not only supply more cold water for snowmaking, but in the summer of 2009 is scheduled to be made into the second wakeboard winch park in the country. Nordic Mountain has always been considered a great place to learn. It is known as a great family hill at a very affordable price. That tradition continues while changes like improved terrain parks and new glade trails help to keep the skiers and snowboarders coming back. Low regular prices as well as numerous specials and special events, such as $10 lift ticket Customer Appreciation Day, help to make this place affordable for the entire family. For more information on all Nordic Mountain has to offer, as well as on the changes taking place, go online to www.nordicmountain.com or call them... |
