We are not offering skiing or snowboarding this winter. Hawksnest is now the largest snow tubing park on the east coast with over 20 lanes of tubing fun. www.hawksnesttubing.com...
Hawks nest was the best in the world....

Springmaid Mountain
14 miles away
Springmaid Mountain is a beautiful place to visit. Even if you don't like camping they also have cabins. If you go camping, try going in the off season. We went in Sept. 05 and we basically had the campground to ourselves! Even if others were in the campground, the sites are spaced apart. Its a great getaway....

Playmore Beach Campground
15 miles away
I used to visit playmore beach as a kid, and now take my grandchildren there. It's a great family place to be....

Laurel Fork Trail
15 miles away

Not normally hikers, and middle aged, this trail was a killer. We had a great time, and the scenery was beautiful, but we were worn out. We ran into a copperhead, twice, once on the way up, and again on the way down. Apparently he was guarding his territory. The falls weren't as full as we hoped, but there has been a lack of rain in this area. The trail in some area's were a bit rough, steep, and dangerous, but at least we can say we made it....

Lake James Landing
18 miles away
We are looking forward to our first full year at Lake James Landing. We're hoping to find cooler summer temps than our central Florida normal. The Landings are beautifully maintained & other RV'ers are friendly helpful folks. Can't wait to get up there....We have a camper at Lake James Landing, and we enjoy it very much! Friendly folks, family oriented, and quiet. There are 4 ramps for launching boats, and the campground is currently expanding under new ownership. There are docks for launching, and plenty of room to beach your boat overnight. We've never had an issue with theft or vandalism while leaving our boat beached while we are camping. I highly recommend this campground for campers with children....

Boone KOA
19 miles away
We have stayed at the Boone KOA several times, and it has always been a pleasant experience. We enjoy feeding the goats and deer, and the campground is a wonderful home base for exploration of the area. ...
