Payette River - North Fork
Are there any guided rafting trips on this stretch of the river??...Don`t forget the take out is just south of the old sheep bridge in Smiths Ferry where you can park your car in a park like setting. Rest rooms are clean and a nice place to unwind after great day of paddling....
Wilson Creek Trail
10 miles away I didn't hike this trail myself but someone in our party met us in middle fork by this route, they said the trail fizzles out half way down because it was too close to the stream and the flash floods have washed it out. They did however state that if you are looking for bear that is very possible to locate since they ran into two different ones feeding near the stream. The trail is more like a rock trail as you get nearer to the Middle fork. Seems sad to think about it now since we are only 50 years away from the time that folks were packing in and farming on the alluvial grades of the middle fork....
Tamarack
13 miles away 4 PHOTOS When Tamarack Resort opened in December 2004, it was the first all-season resort to open in the U.S. in more than two decades. Tamarack features mountain, meadow and lake, and has the distinction of being a rare destination resort with ski, golf, lake, village, and lodging amenities all located in extremely close proximity. Tamarack is nestled in Idaho?s Payette River Mountains. The resort is located about 90 miles north of Boise, west of the small town of Donnelly on the northwest shores of Lake Cascade. Bordered on the north, south, and west by National Forest land, Tamarack sits at the doorstep of the largest mountain wilderness in the lower 48 states?the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness. The base elevation of the Tamarack Mountain is 4,900 feet and it rises to a summit of 7,700?providing 2,800 feet of vertical for skiers, hikers and mountain bikers. Tamarack features 1,100 acres of lift-accessed terrain, a 22? SuperPipe and two Terrain Parks all serviced by seven lifts, including three high-speed detachable quads. Guided backcountry trips provide access 5,054 acr...
Crouch Merc Trailer and RV Park
19 miles away 1 PHOTO Having stayed 2 full months in the Crouch Merc Trailer and RV Park, I highly recomend this for a summer stay. You'll be right on the bank of the middle fork of the Payette River. On the 4th of July, you'll have the best view of the fireworks display, which is in the park across the river. Great people, great small town attitudes, everyone makes you feel welcome. Float the river, guided horse back tours, outdoor theatre with an old fashioned wagon ride, live music, lots of fun. All you need is right in town. Come enjoy for a weekend, what we live with year 'round!...
Mud Lake
19 miles away Hmmmm. According to Google Earth and Topo maps, there should be a place called Mud Lake by Dry Buck Mountain. However, all I can find is a clearing for logging. Did they cover it over? Hmmm strange....
Blackmare Lake
19 miles away The trail to Blackmare Lake is in very poor shape. The fire last year weakened the trees and the wind took down many of them. There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber. The trails themselves are not terrible, but they are very loose with decomposed granite sand. The other big problem with the trail is that past the signs at the first bridge, there is absolutely no direction as to where the trails will take you or how far you are along the trails. ...
Brundage Mountain
28 miles away 7 PHOTOS ...wded, Unspoiled, and Unbelievable'. Frequent visitors know it's easier to find a fresh line than a lift line at Brundage on a weekday. With an average of 325 inches of annual snowfall, the powder days are plentiful. Clear skies reveal sweeping views of Payette Lake & McCall off one crest, and endless mountain scenery reaching all the way to Oregon's Blue Mountains off the opposite side. The only challenge is deciding how long to savor the natural beauty before plunging back in for more terrific turns. Fortunately, with 1,800 vertical feet and more than 1,500 acres of in-bound terrain, there's plenty of time to enjoy both the snow and the spectacular scenery. Weekends and holidays are lively at Brundage Mountain. Visitors frequently enjoy live entertainment in ''Smoky's Pub'', our adults-only space which features weekly apres-ski entertainment and a big screen TV. Families will enjoy the convenient location of the drive up Kids Center, which offers a wide selection of lesson options for all age groups and skill levels, in addition to licensed day care programs for those too litt...
