Establish ed in 1960, Bigrock Ski Area was purchased in 2000 by Maine Winter Sports Center (MWSC) through grants available from the Portland, Maine-based Libra Foundation.
Bi grock and MWSC are helping to make skiing an activity for the whole family to enjoy by offering improved facilities and state of the art equipment at family-friendly prices.
Bigroc k has taken many steps to make our facility the ultimate place for individuals and families to learn how to ski. Trail reconditioning and cutting, improved snowmaking capabilities, reconditioned and new lifts, as well as new grooming equipment have made the slopes more enjoyable for all skill levels. To add variety to everyone's winter sports experience, we've added cross-country and snowshoe trails as well as a snow-tube park. Bigrock's lodge includes a cafe with hot food off the grill along with homemade soups, sandwiches, and snacks. All of these changes have helped Bigrock become a family-oriented facility that offers a big mountain skiing with a small town feel.... |

Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends.
The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park.
