Swain
 | 28 miles away 3 PHOTOS ...n Four Hands, available at Amazon.com) there was mention of ''Last Will'' originally being named ''Last Will and Testament.'' With last year's trail expansion opening the possibility for Snowriders to bypass the steep part of Last Will and continue further down, we have taken the opportunity to bring back ''Testament'' as a blue square that can be accessed from either the ''Last Will'' headwall or from what is now ''The Pass'' and ''Fool's Gold'' in keeping with our West Woods theme. In addition to ''Maverick'' the new cut-through between Maverick and Twister will be a blue square called ''Bandit's Pass''. NEW TRAIL: THE GLADE We have opened up some fantastic glade skiing & riding above 80-acres and between Dozey Doe and Ben Blakely. The Swain Snowsport Instructors have spent many hours clearning the underbrush so that ''The Glade'' can be officially opened this year. Be sure to check it out when the snow flies! NEW TRAIL: MAGIC MOUNTAIN The Magic Carpet has found a new home on the west side of Lower Robinson where we carved out and regraded a new learning zone called '... |

Holimont
 | 63 miles away 3 PHOTOS For nearly 50 years, families and snowsports enthusiasts from miles around have converged on HoliMont – North America’s largest private ski area devoted to family skiing adventures.
Generations of members have been drawn in by the amazing skiing, only to fall in love with the warm, community atmosphere that makes HoliMont the kind of place you never want to leave.
And while a sense of community can’t be manufactured, snow’s a different story. HoliMont’s patented snowmaking system creates 700 vertical feet of wall-to-wall, top-to-bottom snow. Combine that with an average of 200 inches of natural snow per season, and you’re guaranteed a great run every time.
During the week, HoliMont is happy to welcome non-members and groups, who can forget about standing around shivering in long lines. As lifts service over 50 slopes and trails, as well as the Terrain Parks and Halfpipe.

Ski Denton
 | 63 miles away I have been the advisor for the Cowanesque Valley Ski and Snowboard Club for 7 years. Our club has always come to Denton Hill. We have over 60 members in our club this year ranging from 1st grade to adulthood. We are so fortunate to have access to such a terrific mountain! The trails are challenging and the scenery picturesque. Our beginner members have benefited from the patience of Denton instructors and have developed into good skiers/boarders. The prices at the snack bar are reasonable and we enjoy munching on hot chili, and nachos and cheese. Thanks Denton for helping us cope with the winter blues. We look forward to every Sunday we spend at your slopes and do not look forward to the end of the season.... |
Ski Sawmill

Cockaigne
 | 91 miles away 1 PHOTO Cockaigne-Ski-Area... ...result is pretty much what you'd expect, snow, to the tune of 275'' a season on average. Nevertheless, 80% of the area's slopes and trails are further protected by snowmaking. So it's not unusual for Cockaigne to close for the season with all of its terrain open.
Terrain The 15 slopes and trails that make up the area's terrain range from wide (Is 300 feet wide enough for you?) to a very old-style New England 15 feet. The longest run, Johnny Cake, across Kandy Kaigne, to Sugar Plum Run, is just under three quarters of a mile. Three doubles and a surface lift provide the uphill capacity.
Coming down, you'll find nearly half of Cockaigne's terrain rated intermediate and another 40% rated for beginners. This makes it a fine place to take a younger family or a family that doesn't have a chance to get out on the slopes very often. With good snow cover and conditions almost a certainty, it's a good bet that everyone will have fun.
The name ''Cockaigne'' is reportedly Old French in origin, and means a ''place of ease and delicacies,'' hence the delicious names of the are... |
