Spruce Hole Trail

While I have not had the pleasure of hiking any of its trails yet, I look forward to camping in this area. I ''scouted'' the dirt road into the Spruce Hole exit off of the main road. It is very lovely through this piece of wilderness. Lots of healthy pines, wildflowers, and plenty of wildlife too. Sorry I don't have any pictures, but if you're thinking about camping or hiking here... I highly suggest that you do!... |

This stretch is not do-able to the average boater. It is anything but. The given put-in and take-out coordinates put you through at least one mandatory portage on private property with a less-than-content owner. It's a two day trip, so there is at least one night of camping on private property. The run can only be done when the spring run-off is exactly right, and the V+ rating is not joking. This run is just not done. Go ahead and prove me wrong at your own risk....Note the 40' high waterfall about a mile in from the box downstream entrance. i have fished this many times,and think you would be crazy to run it, not to mention its all on private property.... |
