Shenandoah River
...lub boaters huddled in eddies playing follow the leader through shallow rocky class IIish ledges. bull falls, being the biggest hit of the day is simple and easy to recover gear if you take a tumble. At high water, (note: this writer considers 10ft @ millville to be moderately high) This babe changes to huge fast waves and raft flipping holes. Go with someone who knows what is up if you are going out when the doah is actually got some water in it. Big water means that bull falls is washed out with easy sneak lines but third hole in the main chute only gets bigger as the water goes up. The staircase really starts rockin with some of the best play in the area. With good levels the potomac will back the doah up and you have about 200 yards of flat water til the confluence. Then when the doah meets the mac the big water is really there. river right has shit that will kill your ass and river left is big big big play waves with a couple of holes to miss. if you didn;t get your fill, climb out on the canal and hike back up to run the mac again. muai wave and white horse are spectacular. pea...

Antietam Creek

Wow, I live on Little Antietam and the creek seemed at normal level so we went to Funkstown and dropped our canoe in. It was great.  My husband was fishing and I was just enjoying the ride.  Just after we passed the area that is closest to Alt 40 and Cool Hollow Rd we hit rock.  For the next 3 hours we scooted, pushed and walked till we hit the bridge on Barnes Rd.  What a drag.  If the water fall shown is past that I guess I'll never see it....
this is a very nice stretch that also offers good fishing.  I guide smallmouth and trout fishing by kayak on this stretch and the 7 miles downstream.  Feel free to contact me for free info or to book a scenic paddle or fishing trip.  I've got lots of kayaks and canoes and all the gear.  info@fishnfloatadventures.com.  301-432-8469.  Here is a pic of one of my favorite spots....

Beaver Creek
15 miles away

Some additional information that you might be interested in about Beaver Creek is that it is a true limestone spring fed creek.  That means that it has warm water in the Winter and cool water in the Summer.  The upwelling of water through the limestone bedrock creates a unique ecosystem in Maryland with freshwater shrimp, watercress, and lots of well fed trout.  In Winter, this stream can be 10 degrees warmer than any other water and this really attracts wildlife, especially ducks.  This is a wonderful little creek to paddle in a 9-10 foot kayak.  I guide trout fishing on this stream and it is one of my favorite creeks in Maryland.  It holds some trout over 6 lbs. throughout the year.  I do not reccommend kayaking this creek in April because there are lots of people fishing for trout.  If you would like more free information or to book a scenic paddle or trout fishing day, feel free to contact me at 301-432-8469 or visit my website at http://www.fishnfloatadventures.com...

Goose Creek
21 miles away
Tried to put in at the Fairfax Dam but the City of Fairfax has closed the road and posted no trespassing signs everywhere.  Seem to be pretty serious about prosecuting violators and towing cars.  The portage around dam is too hard for rafts and steep for others....

Back Creek
21 miles away
i do not agree with the II(III) rating of the creek. it is similar in difficulty to nearby sleepy creek and i have no problems paddling this section going upstream (in low water) as well as down. there is also a much more convenient take out at Rt. 3/2 that costs you a mile or so of water but significantly shortens the shuttle.
i have not yet used the new gauge upstream of this section for calibration, but if opequon creek at martinsburg is at 3' and sideling hill creek gauge is at 1.4' - the creek should be up. tilhance creek is very beautiful and has just about every kind of wildlife as well as nice cliffs. use the Rt. 3/2 take out. you will need close to 60 CFS on Hogue Creek to boat tihance....

I loved Ski Liberty when I stayed there a few years ago for a weekend. It was the most fun I've ever had at a ski area. There was a great snow storm while we were there and the conditions were awesome. I'm coming back this year with my children and look forward to sharing your mountain with them....

Tussey Mountain
77 miles away
Okay, I'm on Tussey's Junior Race Team and we spend every waking moment at Tussey, and love it. It takes exactly 7 minutes and 43 seconds to get up the lift and 4 minutes and 22 seconds to get up the t-bar (which they fixed with duct tape) Never get chair 32, the bars don't go down, and chairs 75 and 1 are lucky. If you ask nicely in the lodge, they'll warm up your cinnamon bun for you and always try the vending machine without money first, it sometimes works. Also, never use the front door to the lodge, you are guarenteed to fall oh, and the mountain can be skied in full tuck in 15.4 seconds. ...
