I've never kayaked this stretch of Craig's Creek, but it is not the ONLY stretch by far! We spent 10 days in a lovely VRBO.com riverfront vacation rental downstream from New Castle, and kayaked both up and down the river multiple times, even though the area was in the middle of a bad drought. We will be renting in Roaring Run this year, which is according to the owner kayakable for the 5 miles to where it meets the James River. There is a very nice pull out/picnic spot where the two meet, and plenty of room to park. Take time out to splash around as well. I've never seen a river this clean before!... |

Could tubes work also?...This run is great, but it is NOT in Bedford or Campbell county not even near. it starts in Mongomry county and flows into Roanoke county.use the put in at the Dixie Caverns wayside on Rt. 11. there are several take outs you can use, the river is next to the road in several places.... |
