Sherando Lake Campground
 | Well me and my family have been going to Sharando Lake ever since I was born and we havn't gone anywhere else I love sherando and I can't wait to go back for another memorable camping weekend!...As close to perfect a camping experience as you can get: 1) Private, secluded, spacious campsites 2)access to flush toilets and showers, 3) a breathtakingly beautiful lake/swim area 4)hiking trails. WORD OF CAUTION: in-season, all sites are snapped up by Thurday noon for the weekend. Come on Sunday for best selection or before Thursday if you want a shot at a campsite. They don't take reservations (as of 8/2006) Wish they would so everyone could have a shot at a weekend camping trip there, not just the locals who can zip in and set a few camping chairs on the sites on Thursday to claim it for the weekend. ... |

Middle River
 | 13 miles away 1 PHOTO Heading back to river this week August 27, 2007. Here is one of the fishing pics from the last trip on the river a couple weeks back in earlier August.... KOA campground is along a portion of the Middle River. Took kayak along to do some floating and fishing.Being not familiar with the area, had a hard time finding a spot to launch which was not private property. Went about 1 mile up river from campground and found a pullover on the road edge. Launched yak and started fishing. The water level is way down, almost too low to float. The fishing was AWESOME and caught plenty of smallmouth and even some nice sunfish. Couple of the smallmouths were very nice. Floated river two times over the weekend and had a good time. Several rock gardens that require walking and dragging kayak. All in all a good trip despite going solo and not knowing the area.... |
Tye River
 | 18 miles away Class I-II, nice scenery. Might have difficulty getting to marked put in point. take out point is just before bridge on river right. cars will have to go across bridge and pull off just around sharp right corner.
