Douglas lake water levels are controlled throughout the year by the Tennessee Valley Authority. The water level in Douglas Reservoir vary about 41 feet in a normal year. The lake is at full pool June 1 through Labor Day. TVA, precipitation and the weather all affect the level of Douglas Lake. Douglas Dam was built by the Tennessee Valley Authority in the early 1940s to control flooding in the Tennessee Valley and provide electricity to rural areas in the region.
