Broad River 14 miles away I have traveled this stretch many times, and although there arent any real rapids to speak of, there are some beautiful island to explore ( Shelton and Henderson). Most all of this stretch is in the national forest.... Pinecone Campground 15 miles away When we stayed at Pinecone Campground we had a very great time. Even though we read some not-so-good reviews, we had lots of fun. The childern enjoyed the pool and the golf carts and even the teenagers that were there had fun. It is a good family invironment and a good place to go and relax. We havee stayed there since and we will continue to go back. We camped in tents.... Hawksnest is now the largest snow tubing park on the east coast with over 20 lanes of tubing fun. www.hawksnesttubing.com... Hawks nest was the best in the world....
