Mount Marston National Recreation Trail
 | 12 miles away This is a wonderful place to go hiking, It is a tough 7.5 miles uphill. I took my girlfriend hiking on this trail and we experienced a lush old growth forest, then we journeyed onto the mountain, where most of it was dry, but every once in awhile we ran into a majestic stream, with lush plant life growing around them, the view of lincoln county from on the ridge was amazing, the local Dicky Lake, was as blue as ever, and your eyes were allowed to stretch for miles upon open wilderness. Make sure to bring some food, its an energy waster, and some pepper spray!(mace) we did not encoutner any animal life except for insects and birds, but it is a Grizzly bear region.... |

Lookout Pass
 | 89 miles away 1 PHOTO Lookout Pass is the original Idaho ski area having documented skiing and a home made rope tow in
1935. The local ski pioneers chose Lookout Pass because of the abundant snowfall and excellent snow quality which they could access by jumping on the Northern Pacific railcars as they proceeded east from the mining towns of Wallace and Mullan, Idaho. These ski adventurers would hop off the railcars at the summit and utilize a highway storage shed as a warming hut
that they nicknamed ''Buzzards Roost''. Lookout Pass has operated every winter season since 1935 and has a
reputation for legendary powder, earliest openings, and longest season in the region. Average snowfall is 400'' of light Northern Rockies snow. The ''Affordable Family Ski Area'' has recently received a major expansion approval and has initiated the first three phases of a five phase Master Development Plan.... |
