This is a picture of Gipsy Lake. This picture was taken while I was driving around in the area. This lake is absolutely beautiful...and there are plenty of nice trout in it to catch....

Bridger Bowl
29 miles away
12 PHOTOS
Bridger Bowl offers a very diverse ski experience with the following ratings: 20% beginner, 30% intermediate, 20% advance and 30% extreme. Incredible expert only skiing is available off Bridger's new Schlasman's Chairlift and on the renowned ''Ridge.'' Skiers and snowboarders who wish to ride the new lift or access this terrain, collectively known as Ridge Terrain, must have an avalanche transceiver (457 kHz). It is strongly recommended to have a partner, a shovel and expert skiing abilities in addition to knowledge of the terrain before venturing into the area which will have no hazard markings, no grooming and no marked trails. Ridge Terrain contains numerous steep chutes, rock cliffs, and snowfields which may end in unmarked cliffs. Clearly, Bridger Bowl's Ridge Terrain provides some of the most challenging skiing found within any ski area boundary!...

Tenderfoot Creek
29 miles away
I'm a land owner on the Tenderfoot and I wouldn't recomend trying to float it. It is a fun place to go tubing and have short floats but it isn't a good place for an extended trip. There are numerous log jams and gravel bars to navigate. On the other hand The Smith River is awesome....

Showdown
35 miles away
Nestled in the heart of the Little Belt Mountains you'll find Showdown Ski Area. Since 1936, Showdown has been known for its family friendly atmosphere and amazing all natural snow. With a base area elevation that's higher than many summits and a location that puts us right in the middle of the winter storm paths, Showdown gets the good snow and keeps it longer. Great skiing is just part of what has kept Showdown going for over 70 years. The real secret to our success is the friendly folks that work and play here. George and his family have been running the show for over 30 years, and have helped generations of Montanans learn to love winter. Whether you' re a downhill demon or just looking for a fun place to have a drink, a laugh and soak in the sparkles of winter, Showdown is the place to play....

Yellowstone National Park is just 18 miles away with the West Yellowstone entrance only 48 miles south of Big Sky Resort. In the winter take a guided hike around the park. Ride a snow-coach to Old Faithful Lodge and check out the wildlife. Cross- country ski along the Riverside Trail or snowshoe to frozen Mystic Falls near the Upper Geyser Basin.

After a hard day of sliding on the snow relax in one of our numerous village bars or restaurants while you listen to live music and enjoy a beverage or a bite to eat. Check out 24 dining options, 14 within walking distance from the mountain village. Our full service spa will ease you tired legs and the Kids Club and numerous other activities will keep the whole family busy. With virtually no lift lines, numerous lodging options and a mountain village with tons to do, Big Sky invites you to come out and see what...

Great Divide
86 miles away
...en the only other people you see are the ones that came here with you. The RAWHIDE GULCH Chairlift quickly returns you to the main mountain at the end of your expedition.
The WILD WEST ADVENTURE AREA is unlike any place at other ski areas. Over 500 acres of uniquely designed narrow interwoven trails and endless glades feel like friendly backcountry skiing with the benefit of a mile long lift to take you back you the top and do it all over again!
Great Divide does not typically receive huge dumps of snow (That's why they call it ''Montana's Sunniest Ski Area''). They compensate with an incredibly effective modern snowmaking system that traditionally provides one of Montana's earliest openings and produces monster terrain parks. The other antidote to low snow is enormous terrain. With so many trails, glades and open bowls skier densities on the upper mountain and outer valleys resemble a backcountry skiing experience.
Mark Hoy has directed the Ski & Snowboard School for nearly 2 decades. His enthusiastic instructors provide FREE lessons all day long to anyone who tells us t...
