Hidden Valley Resort
2 PHOTOS This is a Super Campground, but it might be important for you to know that it is ''clothing optional'' ... you wear as much or as little as you want, but don't be surprised to see people wearing just a smile.? Also, the name as now changed to Paradise Valley Resort.? It is family oriented and there is a daily fee....
Etowah River Campground
10 miles away I love camping at Etowah River Campground. It is secluded and away from the traffic of the big lakes and Corps of Engineers campgrounds. The owners are VERY friendly and will do anything to make your stay pleasurable. You can hike and ride your ATV nearby, float the Etowah River or just relax. There is no reason to run to town after your arrival. The campsites are also very spacious and roomy, the bath house is clean and well maintained and the grounds are well groomed. I can't wait to go back. It may just be the only place I camp from now on....
Camp Glisson Lower Lake

R-Ranch in the Mountains
16 miles away The resort is very nice, beautifully landscaped. Site we were on 519 had no tv or satallite reception. Some people were very nice. I would definite go back there again....
Chestatee River
17 miles away This was not a great run, maybe because the water was low, and some guy was telling us it was illegal for us to be on ''his'' river. Check out riparian law dude! The waterway belongs to the public and cannot be obstructed according to federal law- Anyway, the trip included lots of dragging over rocks. Maybe the water was low. We went July 15th 2009, the 11 mile trip which should have taken a day took us the day. However we never made it to the end. And according to Scottie Davis, our rescuer, we would have been spending the night somewhere and then taking another day to get to the end. Well, my bad, kind of jumped into that without a lot of planning, but it was a beautiful ride. Definitely would do again if the river were a little higher. Peace-evagael...
Dicks Creek
19 miles away Well if this is where the big waterfall is. No Iw ould not raft it. Besides if you went way too far down you will run into private proprrty and You will be in huge trouble! For below the falls there are deep pools w/ trout and signs to keep out. What a pretty picture to take. GO with the right person which in my case took the wrong person, Who likes to stop Fish for awhile, see a fall, go on to next stop.Rest, enjoy and move to Desoto or Helen etc. I plan for now on to go to this area of GA 2 to 3 times a year to see the views. Pooh on some of your state parks for camping....
Big Creek
29 miles away No real put in spot because the water is only about 6 inches high. It's not deep enough to move. It's literally a stagnant cesspool now. Be afraid. 7-6-2008...
