Music Pass Trail

You have to have either a truck or SUV and if you want to bypass about 4 miles of rocky road hiking take a 4 wheel vehicle. It is totally worth it... beautiful!...

South Crestone Lake
16 miles away
Trail is awful, disappearing and reappearing every now and again. Thorn bushes and trash cover what little trail is easy to navigate. Trail disappears completely before you actually reach the lake. Also it appears that an axe murderer has taken up residence in the upperwoods. Be careful and travel in large groups if you plan to try and make it to the lake. It is easy to get lost so mark your trail well....

Eldora

It's a good ski mountain in my honest oppinion, good skiing, not too big and impersonal....
Really nice mid size resort with a good variety of runs and lots of snow. We come here every winter....

Taos
63 miles away
...pe into the ancient cultures of the Southwest or explore the side of a vast mountain that has been opened up for skiing and snowboarding, but not tamed. Taos combines the warm ambiance of a small European-style village nestled at the base of a great mountain, a superb ski school and an ambiance founded on the classic pleasures of skiing and snowboarding. Taos blends its high elevation and arid desert climate to provide skiers with the perfect conditions; light dry snow and bright sunshine. From the famed steeps to gentle bowls, Taos' terrain appeals to the super-expert and the beginner alike. With a peak elevation of 11,819 feet, a base of 9,207 feet and 1,294 acres of ski trails, Taos offers varied and challenging terrain to delight skiers of all abilities.
One of Taos' most enduring ski traditions is the steep skiing off The Ridge. This requires a hike of anywhere from 10 minutes to one hour to get to these ''extreme, double-diamond'' runs. The reward is the best ''steep and deep'' skiing in America and a chance to experience off piste skiing. While many resorts have traded in...

Monarch

...from your car right to the lifts, prices are reasonable, and the runs flow naturally back to the base area. At Monarch you'll lose the crowds but not your friends.
Monarch is a family favorite because of great snow conditions and easy access to the mountain. Having one base area makes it convenient to drop off the little ones in the Children's Center, pick-up rental equipment, sign up for ski school and get on the slopes in a timely manner. Lift lines are a rarity and you will regularly find ski runs to yourself.
Looking for great powder, spectacular views, 1000+ acres of expert terrain, steeps, trees, cliffs, and bowls? You found it with Monarch Mountain. Check out the 130 acres of hike-to terrain in Mirkwood Basin from the top of the Breezeway Lift. Monarch Mountain Snowcat Tours offers some of the best Snowcat skiing in the state-guests enjoy skiing/riding in closely spaced trees, variable snow conditions and extremely steep slopes.
At the base of Monarch Pass lies the sunny Arkansas River Valley, with everything you need to make your visit complete. The towns of Salid...
