Lower Peppermint Campground
Awesome location. Beautiful campgrounds with plenty of space and fire pits. Many trails to hike with waterfalls and slides. We stayed at campground six, before the private ranch and we found a lot of campsites with good firepits. We fished, but didn't catch anything. One thing about the grounds is that there was a lot of trash. It's obvious that people don't pack out!! Please people keep this area clean!!...

Belknap Campground
...autiful campground, a rare opportunity to camp at the base of ancient redwood trees that tower 100's of feet above the campground. The main activity is hiking the Summit Trail (10 miles, round trip) to Quaking Aspen. This takes you through one of the larger of the last remaining Giant Sequoia Groves that make this area famous. The Tule River, which runs through the camp ground, is stocked with rainbow trout during the summer months, making fishing a very popular visitor activity. A quaint general store, bar and restaurant is available about 1 mile away in charming Camp Nelson. During winter months, hwy 190 is closed about 9 miles beyond Camp Nelson at Ponderosa. Winter recreationists enjoy this area for the snow mobiling, x-country skiing, and snow shoeing opportunities. Belknap is open year-round, but winter brings storms and sub-freezing conditions. The road to the campground is not always plowed. Rooms are available at the Camp Nelson Lodge (www.campnelsonlodge.com) and at nearby Pierpoint Springs Resort (www.pierpointsprings.com). Cabin rentals available at http://www.s...

Camp James

Enjoy our riverfront family campground and RV park on the ''wild and scenic'' Kern River!! Fish year round on one of the finest trout fishing rivers in California. All of our sites have water and electric, and we also have full hook-up sites with water, electric, sewer and cable! Our sparkling clean bathrooms have coin op hot showers. We also have a dump station. We are walking distance to a grocery store, laundromat, restaurants and river rafting companies.

We have large, shaded sites with many being riverfront or creekside. We pride ourselves on being a clean, quiet family campground. We are ''quiet'' pet friendly!!

We have firewood, ice and vending machines at the office.

Please see our website at www. Campjames. Net for all rate and reservation info, and you can check out the campsite map.
