Engledinger Lake
 | tried our luck at fishing there. I would describe it as POOR at best. We only caught one little blue gill and it was a nightmare trying to launch our small boat!!!!... |
Devil's River Campers Park
 | 12 miles away We seasonal camped there everyday last summer and found it to be an excellent family destination! great management, great people, virtually no problems whatso-ever with loud partiers. awesome waterfalls and a running river the kids can wade in, nice clean pool and free hot showers!... |
Ahnapee State Trail
 | 19 miles away ...th trees which keeps the ride cool and out of high winds.
The scenery is mostly farmland, but mixed and charming. There are a number of access points to the trail and ''Off the Trail'' for a stop at a local restaurant/pub which are sometimes pointed out by signs on the trail.
The trail is long enough to make an interesting tour and easy enough to bring your family for a longer tour.
A really great weekend trip is to pack up the bikes for a camping trip and bike from Casco to Potowotami State Park. Don’t bother buying food to carry; you get to buy it at the end of the ride!
Maybe have breakfast to start the trip in Luxemburg or Casco to start the trip off right and to help the local economy (Casco has a population of 560 people).
Bicycle the trail to Algoma and spend a couple of hours noodling around the maritime village, dip your feet in Lake Michigan, and have lunch at one of the local and affordable Algoma restaurants.
Note that there are several apple trees along the way. Unlike today’s apples which are mostly highbred grafts, these herita... |
Baird Creek
 | 24 miles away I am the past president of the Baird Creek Preservation Foundation and I am also an experienced paddler. I comfortably do Class 4 water and I have done some Class 5. I am not sure if I would recommend that section of Baird Creek for anyone. There is only enough water during extreme flood situations. Most years there is no single flood event that would bring Baird Creek up to paddleable levels. There are a tremendous number of logs and entire trees across the creek. During flood situations the potential to get pinned against or under deadfalls would be very high.... |

Alpine Valley
 | 98 miles away Alpine Valley is a very good ski resort for being in Wisconsin, it's a bit more on the easy side of the spectrum so if you're an advanced skier you might get bored. But I love it, it's a great place for a relaxing day of skiing. I come here a lot with my family and we all like it.... |
