This camp ground is the best I travel 346 mi or 6 hours to enjoy it. Unfortamatly not this year =[...i like camping alot and this is one of the better places I have gone because you can do alot to entertain yourself and theres always good fishing on the lakes so I highly reccomend this campground to anyone that wants to have a good time and lots of fun....This is a nice campground but there are alot of seasonal sites that fill the park...this is a nice camping spoy with plenty of attractions you wont be disappointed... |

...est of the family brought that instance up more than once around that evening's campfire. After another hot shower, a meal and campfire beneath the stars, the wife and I slipped off for a couple cocktails at the bar located within the resorts campus. Much to our surprise we saw ourselfs running First drop upon the bar television. Seems that one of the larger groups who were along on our noon trip had requested a video of their exploits be filmed. Now the whole world had proof of my paddling prowess. The next morning we packed our tent in the rain in preperation of driving home. As we checked out to leave the resort we discovered a bus load of patrons heading for the Menominee River. Thornton's also service this Big Water gem which flows out of Niagara Wi. And on down through the class IV water of the fabled Pier's Gorge. Suddenly we all wished we had more time. Oh well maybe next trip......

Paint River

I just took a 30 mile trip down this river with a group of 6 and three canoes. I thought it was great overall. There are a few shallow spots where we had to get out of the boat and pull it through the water but otherwise the depth is good. As far as the quote ''pretty good campgrounds'' go, these were not easily found but can be set up in the less dense forests alongside the water. The stretch over the hemlock rapids is a bit difficult on the lower hemlock but the upper is an exciting though slightly wet ride. The overall current throughout the river is not too fast so some paddling is needed. Thats about it, this is a great river. The scenery is beautiful, and if your staying overnight the stars are miraculous, so enjoy the view. If your in the trees alot watch out for ticks, (they found me well) but other than that, enjoy the ride.... |
