Nisqually River
21 miles away ...very year there is something new and unexpected. There are a few notable obstacles and log jams that have stuck over the past ten years or so. One of them is between McKenna and the Nisqually railroad trestle. It has been there as long as I can remember. But the river isn't too fast there and you should have plenty of time to get outta the way. The other problems are further down the river, the log jams that are past the Nisqually pines aren't too bad. Most of them are so far up on the river bank that only a few trees hang into the river ( not to say that there are none of them.) But the problem is that you raft right under the cliffs on FT. Lewis. They seem to like to throw cars off the cliffs and watch them hit the water.. Or this is a good way to dispose of stolen cars.. Because the water just churns and turns these cars into a spiky nightmare for the rafters and tubers of the Nisqually. I have yet to see one person go over the cars and not instantly blow there raft apart.. Just keep a good eye out for any colors that don't belong in the river. Sometimes its just a small corner ha...
Coweeman River
23 miles away If you choose to run the canyon be advised about half way through in low water conditions there is a slot falls there narrow and fast once you get to the other side its all private property till you get to the Kelso dike . the only good take out for large boats is at the mouth of the river and on the other side of the cowlitz about 100 yards up stream. the cowlitz runs fast most of the time . there is also a large tree across the river about a mile below the gravel pit. It would be a sweeper in high water. I also find the milage on this chart to be wacko some close some not even in the target. its a nice float but that canyon is dangerous ....

White Pass
95 miles away ..., located in Washington's breathtaking Cascade Mountains, is a place blessed with abundant snowfall and unspoiled beauty. It has a wide variety of terrain for all abilities, a ski school with programs for everyone and places to relax and enjoy good times after the day is over. What really makes it special though, is the friendly, family-oriented atmosphere. It's what makes White Pass a ski and snowboard paradise. The White Pass experience starts with a bountiful snowfall (350'' in an average season) and with the highest base elevation on the crest of the Washington Cascades. The resort strikes a perfect balance between pulse quickening steeps, wide open cruisers and gentle learning areas with 33 percent of the terrain geared toward experts, 43 percent toward intermediates and 24 percent toward beginners. Nothing gets you to the top faster than the Great White Express, Washington's only Doppelmayr high-speed detachable quad. Great White can take you from the base to the summit in five minutes. White Pass is recognized as one of the greatest mountains to ride in the N...
