...out Springs is the oldest continuous operating ski area in Oregon and is located on a major route through the Blue Mountains. It is very popular area for snowmobiles and year-around residences.
Spout Springs opened in 1927 and was first known as the Blue Mountain Ski Club. Pete and Esther Eyraud were the first owners. Pete was the second President of Pacific Northwest Ski Instructors Association and was instrumental in bringing the first French ski instructors to the northwest ski areas. Its name is derived from the numerous natural springs that are found throughout the region. There are three springs on the resort's property.
Spout Springs has 2 double chair lifts, a 21 KM cross country trail system, night skiing (the entire area is lighted), and one of the states few free tubing hills. In the late 60's, Spout Springs was the Nordic training center for the United States Olympic team and the Norwegian jump team. Spout Springs flies the Olympic Flag for this distinction.

The only challenge is deciding how long to savor the natural beauty before plunging back in for more terrific turns. Fortunately, with 1,800 vertical feet and more than 1,500 acres of in-bound terrain, there's plenty of time to enjoy both the snow and the spectacular scenery.
Weekends and holidays are lively at Brundage Mountain. Visitors frequently enjoy live entertainment in ''Smoky's Pub'', our adults-only space which features weekly apres-ski entertainment and a big screen TV.
Families will enjoy the convenient location of the drive up Kids Center, which offers a wide selection of lesson options for all age groups and skill levels, in addition to licensed day care programs for those too little to tackle the slopes.

Ski Area History
The town of Chewelah (est. 1883) has long been a gateway for a myriad of outdoor recreational activities especially skiing. Skiing at Chewelah Peak (elev. 5,773 ft) has attracted numerous year-round recreational users since before the Flowery Trail Road was opened to motorized traffic in the early 1930?s. The Colville National Forest formally recognized the winter use of Chewelah Peak in approximately 1935. A permit was issued for development of a site approximately two miles west of the present site of 49ø North Mountain Resort. The completion of Cy?s Hut in 1936 and a rope tow in 1939 firmly established winter recreation on Chewelah Peak. Cy?s Hut burned in 1949. After the completion of the two story Chewelah Mountain Lodge in 1950 and installation of a double chair lift in 1951, the area experienced an increased volume of recreational users and tourists. Over a period of years, obsolescence of the lift and lack of revenue due to a gradual decline in the con...
