Charlottesville Reservoir
 | 12 miles away For years I have been fishing the reservoir, the boat ramp is terrible at the twin bridges, and not enough parking at the dam. Several other fisherman including myself would be more than happy to fix the ramp at the bridges free of charge to the city or county if permission is granted. There is much erosion near the edge of the ramp. Backing your boat in the water is dangerous, trying not to go near the eroded bank. Please call me with a response . THANKS. Rivanna River
 | 21 miles away Last Saturday July 11th,2009 My son and his buddy, both 11 year old decided to canoe the rivanna river . We put the canoe at Shadwell near the bridge and came out at the cross road in Fluvanna county between 53 and 15. The trip took us 7 hours, 4 hours from Shadwell to Crafton and 3 hours from Crafton to Fluvanna court house. I though this could be a good information for the new comer in this area . I couldn't find any information about the time that this trip will take, well I hope this data will help other fellow persons.
PS: It was wonderful experience for everybody... |

Middle River
 | 25 miles away 1 PHOTO Heading back to river this week August 27, 2007. Here is one of the fishing pics from the last trip on the river a couple weeks back in earlier August.... KOA campground is along a portion of the Middle River. Took kayak along to do some floating and fishing.Being not familiar with the area, had a hard time finding a spot to launch which was not private property. Went about 1 mile up river from campground and found a pullover on the road edge. Launched yak and started fishing. The water level is way down, almost too low to float. The fishing was AWESOME and caught plenty of smallmouth and even some nice sunfish. Couple of the smallmouths were very nice. Floated river two times over the weekend and had a good time. Several rock gardens that require walking and dragging kayak. All in all a good trip despite going solo and not knowing the area.... |
