Browns River
 | ... put in). Putting in at the Rte. 128 bridge in Westford, at this level you find about 1/4 mile of class II water until you reach the covered bridge in Westford. There is a diagonal hole just below the covered bridge which is right above a partially washed out dam. We ran the 8ft dam on the far right successfully and continued down river. The rapids below here at this level are good class III+ in places mixed with lots of fast moving flat water. There are 3 or 4 somewhat technical ledge drops ranging in height from 3ft to 6ft. After scouting, we ran everything. Once we hit the Lamoille, which was running around 5000cfs, it was big water class II and III down to Georgia. The ledge drop and run out rapid above the High Bridge were HUGE. If the air wasn't so cold and the wind blowing so hard, we could have used the big recirculating edies there to surf all afternoon. A very long 3 to 5ft wave train finished off the day before a 1/4 mile flat water paddle to the take out at the fishing access on Rte. 104A. This very sedate little run seems to really come alive at this very high level. Run... |

Salmon River
 | 23 miles away More strainers in this river than I have ever seen, anywhere. Upper part to 87 could be a great run at about 2 1/2 feet(guage on bridge on salmon river rd.) Again, have to be aware of strainers, most are river wide. Dont bother with 87 east to lake champlain, mostly flat with over twenty beaver dams. Lots of leaches.... |

Its official, Spruce Peak at Stowe has come to life and a new legacy of visitors, experiences and environmental stewardship are affirming Stowe's century-long reputation as a world-class destination. No single project will touch more visitors in Stowe this winter than the new Spruce Camp base lodge, scheduled to open in December for the 2008-2009 ski season. The Spruce Camp will be Stowe Mountain Resort's central source for skier and snowboarder services. The building includes restaurants, a bar, indoor & outdoor fireplaces, rental shops, retail, tickets, event space and public lounge areas that blend the unique dynamics of Stowe's mountains with the comfort of a state-of-the-art luxury base lodge. Jay Peak
 | 43 miles away 5 PHOTOS Jay Peak is 385 acres and 2,153 vertical feet of glades, bumps, groomers, and parks. Eight lifts, including Vermont's only aerial tramway, access 76 trails, 4 terrain parks for all abilities, and on average, 376 inches of natural snow every season. Jay Peak is well known for its glades and extreme chutes but there's more to the mountain than just expert terrain ? like The Zone, Jay Peak's learning area, which includes 4 lifts that access 11 trails and introductory glades.... Hmm? Jay Peak seems like it has two peaks, shouldn't it be called Jay Peaks? But other than the confusing name I have no complaints. Lots of good runs.... |

 | 54 miles away With the greatest vertical drop in the east at 3,166 feet, very few resorts do this better than Whiteface. For centuries this is how it has been. Until now. This season, Lookout Mountain will be yours for the first time. This means miles of new trail.
