Guadalupe River
 | 23 miles away This is a fun river to kayak. Although some parts are very slow open water, there are usually plenty of tubers to keep it interesting. Me and mine really love this ride. The best put in is somewhere around the first crossing right above huaco springs rapids. From there, your next take out is Gruene. We get out at Gruene but the Parks and Wildlife website list the next public take out a little further downstream but remember when you enter New Braunfels you have to follow their laws such as the limit on the size of the ice chest you can have with you. There are four solid rapids on this run. You need to be sure the water is flowing. During the summer, this is sometimes the only river flowing to assure the survival of the rainbow trout.... |
