Guadalupe River
This is a fun river to kayak.  Although some parts are very slow open water, there are usually plenty of tubers to keep it interesting.  Me and mine really love this ride.  The best put in is somewhere around the first crossing right above huaco springs rapids.  From there, your next take out is Gruene.  We get out at Gruene but the Parks and Wildlife website list the next public take out a little further downstream but remember when you enter New Braunfels you have to follow their laws such as the limit on the size of the ice chest you can have with you. There are four solid rapids on this run.  You need to be sure the water is flowing.  During the summer, this is sometimes the only river flowing to assure the survival of the rainbow trout....

Don't miss the new whitewater park here on the San Marcos River, because it is always flowing at a clear 72 degrees from the giant San Marcos Springs. There is over 30ft of drop in the pristine top section of the San Marcos River (before the confluence with the Blanco River). So schedule a trip to San Marvelous as soon as you can....

Rocky River Ranch
17 miles away
Fires OK, Store, Nearby Grocery, Pool...TENT:We have bunkhouse cabins and we rent to groups of 30 or more.......environment where girls can discover their strengths, learn leadership skills and try something new everyday while making life-long friendships. The ranch's brand, the Triple-R, stands for respect: respect for self, respect for others, and respect for nature. Through our leadership program, RRR is where strong girls become strong women. A Rocky River girl is given opportunities on every level for success. This is a creative, challenging and nurturing place, where each child is encouraged and celebrated.

It's more than just cabins, horses and cedar trees. Rocky River is known for its spirit. Campers today sing the same songs, chant the same cheers, tell the same campfire stories and laugh at the same punch lines as campers did 50 years ago. Traditions like the half- a-century long rivalry between our camp teams (Cowpokes and Wranglers), watching a movie under the stars at the open-air Corral Theatre, the nutty Miss RRR Contest — all of these create an experience your daughter will always treasure.

Tradition gives kids a sense of belonging to a family, bound together by s...

Blanco River
20 miles away
Just got back from a three day trip down this river. It was very scenic and beautiful. All of my crew were quite beat up after this trip though. At flows around 400 cfs there are some serious rapids on this section. There were many damns and there was also a fence constructed across the river just upstream from the Narrows. Lots of debris from the previous fence was found everywhere downstream along the river, so be careful not to get caught in those. The Narrows was downright freaky, and be prepared to carry boats and gear a long distance to get around this hazard. All in all it was a great trip....

Guadalupe River
25 miles away
This stretch of the Guadalupe is a good ride.  The river is mostly steady paced with a lot of rapids.  This stretch of river goes through one of the Guadalupe State Parks were this is a chute that is built that is real fun to navigate.  Beware of the 'rock pile' rapids....
